Textile manufacturers can coat already-made fabric with the liquid. The coated fabric then has a self-repair ability automatically built into it, said Demirel, who led the research.
Over the last year, Demirel's group developed the liquid and tested it on commonly worn fabrics like cotton, wool and polyester. He found that the liquid didn't alter the quality of the fabric, and that it withstood a wash in a machine.
Don’t pin it all on millennials — but, yeah, millennials do prefer more relaxed dress codes, and experts say companies in all industries are increasingly loosening their sartorial standards in hopes of keeping workers happy.
The announcement was met with approval from some current and past baristas on Twitter.
WHAT IT MEANS
Starucks’ new dress code encourages employees to incorporate their personal taste. But some things are off the table.
